MAGIC LEVELS
- Eleve
- An eleve is a character who's magical ability has just come to the fore. An eleve has had little or no training in controlling or working his or her magic and is, oftimes immediately apprenticed to another that has attained either Magi or Wizard/High Priest level. Most apprenticed eleves do not leave the home of their instructor until they have learned how to control their ability.
- Novitiate
- A novitiate is a character who has obtained some training and is on his or her way to becoming an Adept. He or she has learned how to control his or her magic and is working toward honing the skills necessary to graduate to Adept. Novitiates are often responsible for running errands and performing other tasks for their instructors outside of the home.
- Adept
- An adept is one that has obtained sufficient knowledge and training to leave their instuctor's home to live on their own. Except for those within a temple heirarchy, these characters then move up to represent their temple as priests and often perform much of the general day to day work involving the masses. Adepts do not often take on apprentices, though they are certainly skilled and respected enough to do so. More often than not, they will simply instruct an eleve in the most basic forms of control and help them to find a magic wielder of Magi or Wizard level to apprentice under afterward. These are the 'blue collar' mages: the ones most often encoutered by the public and most often called upon.
(Note: This is the magic level that most PC's will be able to attain. Any level beyond this requires a special application.)
- Magi
- A magi is one that has attained a higher than average degree of mastery of his or her skill. If the character is a member of a temple heirarchy, he or she would be the equivalent of a Bishop, handling the more specific, administrative tasks of the temple along with instructing the Eleves and Novitiates of the temple. A magi unassociated with a temple normally begins to take in apprentices to instruct in their magical specialty or specialties depending on the magi.
(Note: This level magic is only granted by special application.)
- Wizard/High Priest
- A mage that obtains this level has attained a near perfect mastery of his or her magic. This is the highest level magic that any mortal can possibly attain. Any PC at this level of magic would most likely be widely sought after by eleves searching for an instructor in their art.
(Note: This level magic may only be obtained by special application and will very rarely be granted due.)
- Demigod
- This level of magic is stronger than even the most knowledgable wizard or high priest attains due to the fact that this is a magic held only by a deity.
(Note: This level magic is held only by a demigod or demigoddess (Royal - bitted) character.)
- God
- This level of magic is the highest possible in all of Mearas. Only the gods themselves hold this much power within them.
(Note: This level magic is held only by a god or goddess (Wizard - bitted) character.)
